As per our report and experience, we found that automatically updating a product using a custom-made plugin (like other GPL websites) creates issues for the majority of users. As many WordPress users make direct modifications to the theme instead of using a child theme, and in that case, updating a theme may wipe out the modifications. Thus flushing down the months of hard work done in the modification of the theme. The same goes for the plugins.
